ALEMANIA, LA TIERRA DE LOS SUEÑOS Y LAS REIVINDICACIONES
El reloj sumaba 58 minutos de juego y la pelota estática, curiosa esperaba que algún pie generoso la deleite. Ya comenzaba a enamorarse de ese sueco que amenazaba con acariciarla. Ante esta ceremonia interminable, los devotos de la redonda que habitaban el estadio de Miyagi encendían su euforia.
Algunos le prendían velas a la diosa Fortuna, pero decían que allí, en el lejano Oriente, nunca conocieron su paradero. La confirmación llegó cuando, precisamente, ese pie sueco terminó de seducir a la pelota.
Ese bendito pie sueco era el de Anders Svensson, el encargado de hacer añicos cualquier tipo de ilusión. Fue un tiro libre impactante, con alguna contribución del arquero Pablo Cavallero. Con el pitazo final, con el 1-1 decretado aparecieron las lágrimas, esas lágrimas inimaginables para cualquier argentino. Y más a esa altura del certamen. Argentina debía armar las valijas.
Como una estaca en el corazón, las sensaciones se convertían en una dolorosa realidad. Argentina afuera del Mundial de Corea-Japón. Sin consuelo, como niños a los que les robaron el juguete más preciado, lagrimeaban Crespo, Verón, Gabriel Batistuta.
